Meet the Founders

MONVAL Residential LTD was founded by brothers Daniel and James Holland with a shared vision of building residential property portfolios that create enduring value. Combining engineering expertise, operational discipline and local market knowledge, they lead the company’s acquisition, refurbishment and long-term investment strategy across North West England.

Daniel S. Holland

Managing Partner

Prior to property my background is engineering and leadership, I hold Chartership with the Royal Aeronautical Society, in addition to both a 1st Class Honours Degree and Masters. Within engineering I have led multi-functional teams, delivering complex projects in a highly regulated industry delivering on-time, on-cost and on-quality. There are huge parallels between engineering and property. As a natural problem solver, property is a great landscape where I apply these transferable skills.

Outside of property and engineering I’m a father to a young family and enjoy spending time with my kids. It’s really interesting and humbling to watch children grow and getting the balance right between helping them and letting them find out things for themselves. I enjoy spending time outdoors, specifically hiking and sailing. I’m a keen reader and also enjoy the thrill that is F1. 

James A. Holland

Managing Partner

I have spent my whole career in the oil and gas sector. I have been involved in a wide range of different jobs during this time, from maintenance to operations. But now I am involved in coordinating maintenance activities and any industrial services work across the refinery. This has given me the opportunity to work in a fast paced and demanding environment which dovetails into property investing perfectly.

Outside of property I am a keen runner, not only does this continually remind me of the importance of physical fitness, but how critical it is to leave your ego out of situations in order to move forward. I am also a keen skier. With a proud achievement of mine being I skied (I will use this term very loosely) the Harakiri which is a 78% gradient slope in Austria. Making it one of the steepest groomed runs in Europe. Thankfully I did not fall over or injure myself which is always a bonus.
